Indigenous Community Liason Officers will establish good communication between police and local Indigenous communities and will help determine disputes involving police and Indigenous communities. They will advise and educate police officers on cross-cultural awareness and also advice police on potential crime and disorder areas and suggest ways to stop crime and misbehaviour. They will improve community knowledge about policing services and law and order issues and provide assistance to relatives visiting Indigenous prisoners. They will assist police and Indigenous persons and their families involved in the juvenile justice process and will use appropriate police powers and prepare prosecution briefs.
