The University of Portsmouth is a public university in the city of Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. The earliest incarnation of the University existed in the Victorian era, and it was granted university status in 1992. It is a consistently high-performing University Alliance establishment across national league tables, routinely placed within the top 25 of UK universities. It is one of only four universities in the South-East to be rated Gold in the Government Teaching Excellence Framework.
The University of Portsmouth was ranked in the worlds top 150 young universities (Times Higher Education 2019), and holds a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
