Oxford Brookes University is a public research university in Oxford, England. It is a new university, having received university status through the Further and Higher Education Act 1992. It can trace its origins to 1865, when it was founded as the Oxford School of Art. The university was named after its first principal, John Henry Brookes, who played a major role in the development of the institution.Voted the UK’s top modern university (QS World University Rankings), Oxford Brookes University is a campus university located in the beautiful and historic city of Oxford. There are three campuses that are part of the university, linked by the BROOKESbus. The Student Union and the many societies on campus help to build the close-knit but diverse community Oxford Brookes is known for. Oxford was ranked in the top 100 universities in the UK (Complete University Guide 2020) moving up 15 spots from 2019.
