Georgian College works with industry and community partners to offer its students with relevant, cutting-edge curriculum, quality work placements and co-op experiences with top employers. It was established in 1967 and since then it has been a change maker college.The college is the first and only college in Canada designated a change maker college by Ashoka U for its role as a leader in social innovation and change making in higher education. Georgian College has 75,000 alumni, 13,000 full-time students, more than 3,600 international students from 85 countries. The college offers 130 plus market driven programs that includes certificates, diplomas, degrees, combined degree-diploma and graduate certificated in various areas of study like Automotive Business, Business and Management, Community Safety, Computer Studies, Design and Visual Arts, Engineering and Environmental Technologies, Health, Wellness and Sciences, Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation, Human Services, Indigenous Studies, Liberal Arts, Marine Studies, Skilled Trades etc.
With small classes and lots of student resources, friendly staff, volunteer and work opportunities, dynamic varsity teams, clubs and campus events, students at Georgian College find their favourite way to plug into student life. Georgian offers a variety of housing options to students – from on-campus residences (Barrie, Orillia and Owen Sound campuses) to off-campus apartment buildings, room and board, and houses to rent or share. One cannot succeed in school without nourishment.
Georgian College is home to one of Ontario’s strongest varsity programs. It has 13 varsity sports teams which compete across Ontario in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association with select sports that compete across Canada in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association. Georgian College students, community members and faculty have access to an impressive array of fitness facilities, programs and services through physical education and athletics.
Georgian’s seven campuses encompass a total area of 21,000 square kilometres (almost the same size as the country of El Salvador) and are located in some of the most sought-after areas in Central Ontario: Barrie, Downtown Barrie location (Arch and Helen Brown Design and Digital Arts Centre), Midland, Muskoka (Bracebridge), Orangeville, Orillia, Owen Sound and South Georgian Bay (Collingwood). Campuses play important roles in each of these communities, serving as centres for academic, social and cultural activities, and contributing to the social and economic well-being of the areas. All seven campuses are in cities offering bus service to Toronto.
