About the courseAn architectural technologist is a specialist in the technological aspects of building design and construction, bridging the gap between design theory and construction practice. This course will teach you the skills required for a successful career in industry, including the fundamentals in building design requirements from development through to completion. You will learn key skills in areas of design and development so that you are proficient in advising on appropriate technology. On completion of this course, you will gain a creative attitude and be skilled in detailing to design, using both graphic and computer-aided drafting techniques. This course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and host the CIAT Centre of Excellence, and is also accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

AboutEdinburgh Napier University is a public university in Edinburgh, Scotland. Napier Technical College, the predecessor of the university, was founded in 1964, taking its name from 16th-century Scottish mathematician and philosopher John Napier. The technical college was inaugurated as a university in 1992 by Lord Douglas-Hamilton, becoming Napier University. In 2009, the university was renamed Edinburgh Napier University.

Built around the historic 16th-century birthplace and home of our very own John Napier, Merchiston campus is home to our creative, computing and engineering students. Situated in the buzzing neighbourhood of Bruntsfield, independent cafes, restaurants and shops are just around the corner. Merchiston is also home to the Edinburgh Napier Students Association. We also have rehearsal and performance spaces in a converted church just around the corner in nearby Morningside.
