This is a flexible academic program designed for students who wish to study mathematics, statistics or computing. Those studies can be combined with courses from commerce, design studies, economics, engineering, finance, humanities and social sciences or sciences. Finance is a new and important area of application of mathematics. There is a need to model and control uncertainty in financial markets and in financial arrangements. Employment opportunities exist in banks, corporations, and the insurance and investment industry. Study of mathematical modelling, statistics and computing provides a strong grounding for a career in finance. Students who do well in their courses may complete an additional year of study to obtain an Honours Degree of Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science which provides opportunity for research and enhanced employment prospects.
You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school qualification) Equivalent qualifications may also include a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades. Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry. Your application will still need to be assessed and accepted. If you dont meet the entry requirements, there may be other programs you are eligible for that can lead you to your preferred program.
