We offer a Food Science programme that equips you with the depth and range of knowledge youll need for a successful career in the food industry. Food science is a far-reaching discipline that applies the pure science subjects of chemistry, biology and nutrition to the study of the nature, properties, and composition of foods and the changes which they undergo during storage and processing. Food science is also concerned with maintaining and improving food quality and safety. This programme will give you an in-depth understanding of food processing, food texture, flavour, food formulations, product development, and food safety. Youll investigate operations that are applied to preserve foods as well as special procedures which are used to produce everyday commodities. About
The University of Leeds is a public research university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was established in 1874 as the Yorkshire College of Science. In 1884 it merged with the Leeds School of Medicine and was renamed Yorkshire College. It became part of the federal Victoria University in 1887, joining Owens College and University College Liverpool. In 1904 a royal charter was granted to the University of Leeds by King Edward VII.
The University of Leeds is ranked 11th in the UK according to the Guardian University Guide 2020, and among the world top 100 according to the QS World University Rankings 2019. It is also part of the prestigious Russell Group – a collection of 24 research intensive universities in the UK.
