About the course
This graduate entry master (GEM) qualification for speech pathologists is an alternative to the Bachelor of Science (Speech Pathology) for those with a bachelor degree in another discipline. The academic coursework and clinical practice integrate contemporary theory and research across three streams, Human Communication Science - units where there is a theoretical focus and the aim is to introduce students to theoretical, evidence-based material and help them to see the link to clinical practice, Clinical Science in Speech Pathology - units that are grounded in clinical practice, however the aim is to facilitate students seeing the link from clinical practice back to the theory they are learning about in the Human Communication Science stream, and Research Methods - provide students with the research skills they require to become evidence based clinicians.

Bendigo campus is in Flora Hill, an easy 3km drive or bike ride from the Bendigo CBD. We are located next to Greater Bendigo National Park, which means even though we’re close to all the action of the city, you’ll often see kangaroos on campus! The campus became an integral part of La Trobe in 1991, however the university and its antecedent organisations have been providing tertiary education in Bendigo for nearly 150 years. The campus features purpose-built departments for business, arts, education, outdoor education, health, science and engineering.
