Learn the fundamentals of law and science, then select from a wide range of majors to continue to build knowledge and skills in your chosen area of interest. Benefit from JCUs focus on professional relevance, practical skills and authentic experiences, such as clinical legal placements, advocacy and industry project work. JCUs law program enjoys community links and strong support from the legal profession, which contribute to providing an authentic learning environment. At the end of this five-year joint degree you will understand the role of law in social, economic, environmental and political contexts. Student will appreciate the complexity of legal matters in the context of scientific situations like environmental law and bioethics. Demonstrate an understanding of a broad and coherent body of knowledge that includes the fundamental areas of legal knowledge, the Australian legal system, and underlying principles and concepts, including international and comparative contexts. Demonstrate an ability to apply knowledge and skills with initiative and judgement and with due consideration of ethical issues likely to arise in professional contexts, appropriate approaches to ethical decision-making, professional responsibility and professional judgement in planning, problem solving and decision-making in professional practice and/or scholarship.

James Cook University is a public university in North Queensland, Australia. The second oldest university in Queensland, JCU is a teaching and research institution.
