The University of Otago Foundation Year offers a university entrance qualification, called the Foundation Studies Certificate (FSC), which is recognised by all New Zealand universities.Foundation Year prepares you for all undergraduate degrees offered at the University of Otago through the four academic divisions – Commerce, Health Sciences, Humanities, Sciences.Classes are taught on campus, with students using the same facilities as University of Otago students.Our main building is world-class and you will be impressed with the facilities, teaching and support given to all Foundation Year students.This means that you meet our academic and English Language entry criteria, however, you may fit one or more of the following criteria:You have been away from study for more than one year. You are beginning subjects that you have not studied before. You feel that extra time would help you prepare for Foundation Year.Bridging Programme involves six weeks focused study in subject areas that will help you prepare for Foundation Year.The University of Otago Foundation Year runs the Bridging Programme three times a year.Successful completion of a Bridging Programme is valid for entry to Foundation Year for 18 weeks from the completion of the course.
