The Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology follows a scientist-practitioner model featuring personalized guidance from faculty mentors in conducting high-quality original research projects. The programs emphasis on integrated healthcare and health psychology prepares students for research and practice in health care settings. Distinguishing features of the program include a focus on integrated healthcare and health psychology as well as highly valued empiricism and the use of evidence-based assessment and treatment techniques. Students in their second year of the program start practicum work at sites in the NJ, PA, and DE area, including the opportunity for interdisciplinary collaborations with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine, and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The program is Accredited, On Contingency by the American Psychological Association. The Rowan University Department of Clinical Psychology is committed to bringing together students and faculty from diverse backgrounds and emphasizes individual differences as well as interconnectedness between biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors. The curriculum content is consistent with the American Psychological Associations (APA) Accreditation Standards. Additionally, these standards are consistent with requirements for licensure as a Psychologist in NJ as well as nationwide.
