Jump-start your career as an apprentice fitter and turner, welder / fabricator, tool maker / machinist or refrigeration engineer through this certificate. The subjects studied on this programme are the equivalent to the first year of an apprenticeship and give you a head start in your mechanical engineering career. It is a recognised entry for students to take up apprenticeships in the mechanical engineering trades and involves practical and theoretical training. You will gain general knowledge with engineering tools, machinery and equipment, as well as worksite processes and principles. You will also gain skills and knowledge in health and safety, numeracy, communication and team work.
