Geography is an integrative subject that considers the relationship between human society, their environment, and the global challenges facing the world in the 21st Century. Through independent research, supervisory meetings, and departmental seminars, this research programme provides the opportunity for further research in an area of physical geography, and aims to build key skills in preparation for positions in research, spatial planning, and environmental consultancy and management. Subject areas may reflect the Departments current research strengths and specialisms. These include geoarchaeology and environmental history; quaternary environmental change; ecosystem and human health; floods, droughts and climate change; GIS and remote sensing; glaciology and climatology; coastal and marine environments; and large river systems and deltas. Staff in the Department of Geography have expertise spanning geomorphological, climatological, paleoecological, geochemical, and geoarchaeological issues, alongside environmental health, water, and climate change.
You must have successfully completed an United Kingdom Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) or/with full-time or equivalent, work experience in a relevant industry setting.
