From the professional athlete to the weekend warrior to the workplace workhorse, FIU athletic trainers are well-rounded healthcare professionals integrating the latest research, technology and practice to help their patients keep performing at peak levels. FIU’s accredited Master of Science in Athletic Training (MS-AT) degree at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences provides the required educational preparation for a professional career as an athletic trainer. The curriculum for this 6-semester, full-time enrollment program is grounded in evidence-based practice, research and features hands-on learning.Our students are educated in cognitive and psychomotor skills related to recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses involving the physically active as well as risk management, healthcare administration, pharmacology, diagnostic imaging, and medical ethics and legal issues. Students must also complete a minimum number of clinical education hours in a variety of settings to complement their didactic curriculum.Intake Months
