This degree is designed to prepare students for careers in coaching and in student-athlete development. Required coursework includes Psychology of Coaching, Sport in U.S. Culture, Seminar in Motor Learning, Applied Biomechanics: Lifting and Work Capacity, Advanced Strength and Conditioning, Psychology of Injury and Research Methods and Statistical Analysis, and an additional 12 units that include electives and a culminating experience (i.e., thesis or capstone project). The curriculum is designed to provide students with a well-rounded coaching education, while challenging them to learn research-based practices and application. Students should graduate with an established coaching philosophy, networking skills, and improved methods of motivation and athlete skill development.
You must have successfully completed an United States Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) or/with full-time or equivalent, work experience in a relevant industry setting. Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry. Your application will still need to be assessed and accepted. If you dont meet the entry requirements, there may be other programs you are eligible for that can lead you to your preferred program.
