The Literacy Education programs at Marshall University consist of a Master of Arts in Literacy Education, an Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a graduate certificate in Literacy Education. Students should contact Dr. Barbara O’Byrne, Program Director, or Ms. Kelly Sowards for more information. The Literacy Education Certificate is intended for educators who hold an initial teaching license and wish to become highly qualified teachers of reading. It consists of six courses, with embedded field experiences, and leads to a reading endorsement at either the elementary or secondary level.
