The Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) in Combat Systems Engineering program allows students to increase the breadth and depth of their knowledge of complex systems with particular applications to combat systems and defense technologies. The immediate region surrounding Rowan University is home to a large number of companies and agencies that serve the defense industry. Collectively, this industry hires more of the graduating Rowan Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) students than any other industry. The representatives of this industry have expressed a desire to provide the additional knowledge and skill set (specifically as these relate to combat systems) that they would prefer their employees to have at the time of hiring. Completion of the Combat Systems Engineering COGS program will give students the necessary tools required by the defense industry in analysis, design, evaluation and validation of combat systems. Students who complete this program will be marketable and ready to be imminently employed at graduation by the defense industry companies, not just in our immediate geographic area, but nationwide as well. This program is jointly developed by Rowan ECE and the defense industry representatives. The Combat Systems Engineering COGS program courses are taught by highly qualified faculty, including subject matter experts from the defense industry who have significant industrial experience and hence bring unique industry perspective.
