Our faculty carries out research in a variety of areas, such as banking regulation, volatility forecasting, tail risk, real option models, dividend policy, hedge funds and mutual funds, and corporate governance of financial institutions. We have recently been successful in raising external funding from the European Union for a project on funding models for students in Higher Education. The faculty benefits from extensive connections with central banks and financial institutions, such as the Deutsche Bundesbank and Lloyds Bank. Our world-class researchers have recently published in journals such as Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Financial Intermediation, European Journal of Operational Research, Accounting, Organisations and Society, Journal of Banking and Finance, European Financial Management, and Journal of Futures Markets. Our staff members are experienced PhD supervisors. Our PhD students have access to the most innovative tools available, including a dedicated Reuters trading room facility (with access to Thomson Reuters, CRSP/CompStat and ORBIS). Topics for which supervision is available comprise (among others): banking regulation, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, volatility forecasting, real option-pricing models, corporate governance.
