This programme is a significant stepping stone toward a worthwhile career as a seafarer. The Class 5 is a 45 credit certificate programme to add on to your endorsement in Marine Engineering Class 6. This optional endorsement recognises those that can apply their skill to advanced vessel systems including electrical and control systems. You need 200 hours of sea time on any powered vessel and a completed MEC6 MNZ Training Record Book to apply. Learn how to operate and maintain all the equipment and systems onboard a vessel. Whether your interest is new vessel construction and boat building or equipment maintenance and upgrades, this programme aims to provide you with practical maritime engineering skills.
