Our Childrens Nursing degree is designed for students who are looking for a rewarding and lifelong career. You will develop your skills and interests in both general medicine and specialist areas to be a confident and compassionate child nurse. Teaching is through a range of methods including academic study, simulated learning and clinical placements. Childrens nurses need to be versatile and resilient as they care for neonates and babies, children with acute or long-term health problems, children with mental health issues or special needs and children with life-limiting illnesses. Children’s nursing is a fulfilling and challenging profession where you will care for children up to the age of 16 (or in some circumstances, even up to 19) alongside their families and carers. It is essential that as a Childrens nurse you can empower children of all ages and also provide support to their families.
You must have successfully completed the Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school qualification) Equivalent qualifications may also include a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry.
