The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science prepares you to be creative, inquisitive, analytical, and detail-oriented while developing computer applications in a number of frameworks. You’ll complete a substantial project that demonstrates the full extent of your technical skills and knowledge, in addition to its economic, societal, and ethical impact. The concentration in Network Security focuses on network infrastructure and network security aspects and prepares students to handle IT security infrastructure challenges that arise in the design, analysis, and implementation of computer networks. This concentration emphasizes the theory and technology behind network design, operation, performance, and defense against security threats. Courses study a variety of topics such as defense-in-depth, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography, and virtual private networks. Analyze a problem and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution. Apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and computer science theory in the modeling and design of computer-based systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the trade-offs involved in design choices. Design, implement, and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs.
