Health care services maintain and promote health, functional capacity and social security in society. An important part of the work in the field of nursing also includes prevention and treatment of illness. The aim of health care education is to prepare students for working as experts in nursing both independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
The aim of health and welfare policies in Finland is to improve the well-being of Finnish people and to make them feel they can cope in a variety of living conditions. In social services and health care emphasis is placed on prevention, smooth progress of the nursing chains, well-being of the staff and security in the functions of the data systems.
