The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program is demanding, requiring a high level of commitment to advanced production and discourse in order to develop the professional competence of talented students toward successful entrance into the professional art field. Students are admitted to the BFA degree program based on portfolio review. The Ceramics program explores the production of both functional and non-functional art objects. Technical course work specializes in throwing, hand building, ceramic sculpture, mold making and casting, kiln design, clay and glaze technology. Special consideration is given to the history of ceramics and issues in contemporary art. The BFA degree is specifically structured as a preprofessional and pre-MFA program, with a core foundation art curriculum and a general curriculum in both studio art and art history combined with ceramics-specific coursework.
You must have successfully completed an United States Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school qualification) Equivalent qualifications may also include a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades. Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry. Your application will still need to be assessed and accepted. If you dont meet the entry requirements, there may be other programs you are eligible for that can lead you to your preferred program.
