Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce – Healthcare Management degree program gives you a comprehensive grounding in both core business knowledge and specialized skills in health-care management. Our program begins with a foundation of business studies in areas such as accounting and financial management, economics, law, operations management, organizational behaviour, and statistics and quantitative methods. Specialization courses focus on the Canadian health-care system and the knowledge required to effectively respond to today’s complex health-care environment. Examples of specialization courses include health data and analysis, health informatics, health services organization and management, health-care financial management, population health, and policy and evaluation. Analyse the impact and long-range global challenges of economic, environmental, ethical, legal, political, sociological and technological factors upon the strategy, management and behaviour of organizations, with particular emphasis on health services organizations. Discuss contemporary health policy issues from political, social and economic perspectives and analyse current debates in health policy. Compare and contrast the structure of the Canadian healthcare system with systems in other countries. Critically analyse the forces that shape values, ideas, personal and societal circumstances, and business decisions. Evaluate the contribution of human resources management to organizational effectiveness and to other key functions within the organization.
