About the course
Examine the history of visual art in detail, gaining a deeper understanding of your area of interest. You might choose to explore contemporary New Zealand art, 18th century French art, the theories and methodologies that have shaped art history or look at how artists write about art. Youll learn to carry out independent research and further develop your abilities to think critically and write effectively. With postgraduate study in Art History, you have the potential to make an original contribution to knowledge in the field. Some students have taken up opportunities to present research findings at national and international conferences. In the Art History programme, youll be part of a small class giving you the opportunity to work closely with your lecturer or supervisor. Learn from and work with highly regarded academics who publish in a variety of art history journals.
