Students can pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development at campuses in Pullman and Vancouver, and online through Washington State Universitys Global Campus. Undergraduate students can choose an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, Adolescence, Family Studies, Gerontology, or Human Services Case Management and Administration. Certification for teaching Family and Consumer Sciences is also available through the department.

A degree in Human Development prepares students for a successful career in a variety of human services, non-profit, and educational settings. In addition to coursework, all human development majors complete an internship or practicum to help them prepare for a career in the field. Check out the many examples of careers our students have gone into after completing their studies and internship or practicum.

Pullman students may pursue a certificate in family studies while obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development, another bachelors degree, or independent of completion of a bachelors degree. The certificate program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and professional skills to seek employment in a variety of settings that provide services to families including: family counseling centers, parent education organizations, family crisis centers, battered womens shelters, and many other organizations that address family needs and issues.
