World literatures in translation and the relationships among those literatures. The relationship between literature and other fields such as art, music, history, philosophy and theatre. In CWL we focus on world literature in comparative contexts. Comparative literature is the place where various disciplines meet. We look at the dialogue between cultures, and in so doing, we always underscore the sociohistorical contexts behind texts in the broader acceptance of the meaning of text. Our classes often are organized around cross-disciplinary topics, such as Film and Novel, Art and Literature, Music and Literature, Literature and Medicine, Science Fiction and Technology, and challenge students to be perceptive readers, thinkers, and writers. Faculty strengths include literary theory, cultural studies, diaspora studies, visual studies, disability studies, and health humanities.
You must have successfully completed an United States Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school qualification) Equivalent qualifications may also include a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades. Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry. Your application will still need to be assessed and accepted. If you dont meet the entry requirements, there may be other programs you are eligible for that can lead you to your preferred program.
