Anthropology is the study of humans, past and present. To understand the full sweep and complexity of cultures across human history, anthropologists draw and build upon knowledge from the social and biological sciences and the humanities and physical sciences. Anthropologists are highly specialized in their research interests yet remain generalists in their observations of the human condition. They advocate for public anthropology committed to bringing knowledge to broad audiences. The Department of Anthropology and Sociology at The University of Tulsa offers a BA and BS degrees, a minor, and a certificate in museum studies. Please explore the examples of possible four-year plans for an anthropology major at TU. Specific courses are subject to availability and scheduling. These examples aim to illustrate possible major/minor combinations and possible elective classes available. Anthropological comprehension of theories, human cultures, and social groups; Anthropological analysis and interpretation of theories, human cultures, and social groups; Anthropological understanding and implementation of ethical principles; and Anthropological understanding and implementation of research capabilities.
