If you choose to study religion at WMU, you will learn about the various methods used by scholars to describe and explain religion. You will also learn to assess achievements of these methods and develop new methods for increasing your knowledge of religious thought and practice. Through your coursework, you will develop an understanding of the nature and role of religion in human societies, both past and present, non-Western and Western. As a student in WMUs religion program, youll be strongly encouraged to take advantage of study abroad opportunities available through WMUs Heinicke Institute for Global Education—and you wont be alone. Hundreds of WMU students study abroad in 30-plus countries each year. With more than 70 foreign study programs to choose from, the possibilities are endless. You can study abroad for a few weeks, or stay up to an entire academic year. Scholarships are available. You can also gain valuable experience by joining one of WMUs more than two dozen faith- and spiritual-based registered student organizations.
You must have successfully completed a United States Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school qualification) Equivalent qualifications may also include a recognized post-secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades. Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry. Your application will still need to be assessed and accepted. If you dont meet the entry requirements, there may be other programs you are eligible for that can lead you to your preferred program.
