Western Michigan Universitys Japanese program leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Arts and Sciences. It has a strong focus on Japanese language and culture. As a Japanese language student at WMU, you will study fundamental, intermediate and advanced Japanese, Japanese life and culture, and contemporary as well as modern and classical Japanese literature. You will also take an additional course in either advanced Japanese language or advanced literary readings. To round out your program, you will choose electives with the help of your advisor. Electives may include courses that focus specifically on Japanese studies in other departments such as comparative religion, history or political science. All electives taken outside the Department of World Languages and Literatures must be approved by the Japanese advisor.
You must have successfully completed a United States Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school qualification) Equivalent qualifications may also include a recognized post-secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades. Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry. Your application will still need to be assessed and accepted. If you dont meet the entry requirements, there may be other programs you are eligible for that can lead you to your preferred program.
