As an environmental and sustainability studies student at WMU, you will learn concern for the long-term health and well-being of our planet, and be encouraged to develop a personally fulfilling, environmentally responsible way of living. At the same time, youll be offered rigorous pre-professional training to prepare you for a career in a wide range of environmentally related fields. WMUs environmental and sustainability studies program regularly hosts guest scholars of national and international reputation. The program also works extensively with local, regional and international groups such as the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy, Tillers International, Fetzer Foundation, Kalamazoo Nature Center, Pierce Cedar Creek Biological Field Station, Wild Ones, Audubon Society, Sierra Club, United Nations University-Institute of Advanced Studies Education for Sustainability Program, University Leaders for a Sustainable Future, and Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. You will also be encouraged to take advantage of campus organizations such as the Student Conservation Association, the Biodiesel Co-op of Kalamazoo and the Green Corps.
You must have successfully completed a United States Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school qualification) Equivalent qualifications may also include a recognized post-secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades. Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry. Your application will still need to be assessed and accepted. If you dont meet the entry requirements, there may be other programs you are eligible for that can lead you to your preferred program.
