Talk to a counsellorWhen you’re at university, you’ll have a mix of lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical skills sessions and workshops. In taught sessions, you’ll learn about a variety of strategies to challenge and engage learners, discussing ideas with your peers to help you learn. Our sessions tend to be balanced between theoretical knowledge and very practical skills and pedagogies; you might engage in hands-on workshops, discuss ideas in collaborative learning groups or deliver a ‘mini-teach’ session, where you can plan a small input like you would in a school. This allows you to practise and receive feedback on techniques you’ll use in the classroom. Over the course of this three-Year degree, you’ll spend a minimum of 120 days on Placements – it’s where you’ll develop your professional skills as a teacher. Youll spend time in a variety of mainstream primary and nursery schools, as it is important in your development as a teacher to get a broad range of experiences.
You must have successfully completed an United Kingdom Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school qualification) . Equivalent qualifications may also include a recognised post- secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades. Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry. Your application will still need to be assessed and accepted. If you don't meet the entry requirements, there may be other programs you are eligible for that can lead you to your preferred program.
