The Journalism Department offers practical newspaper experience and academic preparation for students seeking transfer to four-year institutions. Emphasis is placed on new technologies and preparation for media jobs in a computer-oriented society. Additional areas of study include journalism history, ethics, law, and the role of the press in our society. The Associate in Arts Degree in Journalism for Transfer is designed to prepare students for a seamless transfer with junior status and priority admission to their local CSU campus to a program or major in Journalism or similar major for completion of a baccalaureate degree. Students are required to complete: a minimum of 19 semester units in the major with a grade of C or better while maintaining a minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in all CSU transferable coursework
