What is a Twinning Programme?
A twinning Programme is an option by which students can get degree certificates from world-class universities at a fraction of the price. How is this possible? You, as a student, can get admitted to a course that falls under the twinning programme of a university in your home country. Once graduated, get a certificate from the university you enrol on home country and a certificate from the world-class university (that is probably in Europe, America or Australia) that your university is partnered with. Thus you pay just the price of education in your home country for both the certificates.
The twinning programme is most available if you are in Malaysia or Singapore. So, next time you hear about the twinning programme in the universities of Malaysia or Singapore, consider that the course in question is provided with a partnership of foreign world class universities from countries like the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia. Also, keep in mind that most twinning programmes will call for you to study half of the course’s entire semester in the university of your home college and the other half in the partnered university.
Malaysian and Singaporean universities/educational institutions such as Taylor’s University, Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College, and the Asia Pacific University College of Technology and Innovation are providing degrees that are conferred by world-class/renowned educational providers like the University of Reading, Curtin University, University of Newcastle, University of South Australia, and many more. The credibility of the twinning programme is two-fold as the Singapore ministry of education is actively buttressing educational institutions that provide twining programmes in the seam of local schools and foreign universities.
Types of Twinning Programme
Twinning Programme in most educational institutions, especially in universities of Malaysia and Singapore, are of three types. They are: 2+1, 1+2, 3+0.
Type one: 2+1 Twinning Programme
This type of twinning programme basically represents the number of years split between the university in your home country and the world class university overseas. 2+1 is the split between a semester spent in your university in Malaysia or Singapore (home country), and an overseas university in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. In 2+1, you spend two years in your university in Malaysia or Singapore and one year in your overseas university.
Type Two: 1+2 Twinning Programme
This type of twinning programme basically represents the number of years split between the university in your home country and the world class university that is overseas. 1+2 is the split between the semester spent in your university in Malaysia or Singapore (home country) and overseas university in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. In 1+2, you spend one year in your university in Malaysia or Singapore and two years in your overseas university.
Type Two: 3+0 Twinning Programme
This type of twinning programme basically represents the number of years split between the university in your home country and the world class university that is overseas. 3+0 is the split between a semester spent in your university in Malaysia or Singapore (home country), and an overseas university in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. In 3+0, you spend all three years in your university in Malaysia or Singapore without going to the partnered overseas university. However, you will get the certificate from both universities all the same.
