About Preston

Preston is located on the north side of the Ribble River. Lancashire, England's administrative center, is located in the district. In 2002, the City of Preston local government district was granted city status, making it England's 50th city in the 50th year of Queen Elizabeth II's reign. Preston and its environs have yielded evidence of ancient Roman activity, primarily in the form of a Roman road leading to a camp at Walton-le-Dale. Preston North End F.C. was one of the Football League's founding members and the first team to be crowned English football champions.
