About Hobart

Hobart is the capital and most densely populated city in the Australian island state of Tasmania. Founded in 1804 as a British penal colony, it is Australia's second oldest capital city after Sydney, New South Wales. Prior to the British settlement, the Hobart area had been inhabited by semi-nomadic tribes for as long as 35,000 years. The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is a popular leisure area. The Tasman Bridge is also an important part of the city.
