About Guildford
Guildford is a town in the English county of Surrey. It is located on the A3 trunk road, 27 miles (43 kilometers) southwest of London, halfway between the capital and Portsmouth. Guildford has Saxon origins, and historians trace its location to the presence of a gap in the North Downs created by the Harrow Way, which formed the River Wey. Guildford now officially forms the southwestern tip of the Greater London Built-up Area, as specified by the Office for National Statistics, due to recent development running north from Guildford and connecting to the Woking area. The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is the town's only commercial theatre, and it often shows productions that have previously been seen in London's West End
