About the course
Occupational therapists play a huge role in the well-being of employees in nearly all workplaces across the UK. Occupational Therapist usually carry a caseload and work with employees of organisations, carers and other professionals to undertake timely individual assessments, produce care plans, review and monitor customers in the context of local guidance, policies, resources and government legislation and work with and/or direct service users to other appropriate services. Our Occupational Therapy course has been developed especially to provide you with the training and skills you need for a successful career in today’s Occupational Therapy market, whether that ne in the NHS, social services or a private provider. On successful completion of the course you will be equipped to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), to work as an Occupational Therapist in the UK. This course sits within our School of Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation where expertise in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, sciences of the anatomy, bio-mechanics, physiology and pathology all come together. Teaching is informed by research and delivered through lectures, seminars, tutorials and practical classes. You will also take part in debates, student led presentations and workshops alongside periods on clinical practice placements. Our comprehensive curriculum is approved by the (HCPC). You will learn to assess patients abilities and needs which in turn will allow you formulate occupational rehabilitation plans and implement therapeutic treatments, leading to you graduating as a professional in your field.

The University of Bedfordshire is a public university situated in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, England. The university has roots from 1882, however, it gained university status in 1992 as University of Luton. Then changed the name to the University of Bedfordshire in 2006 by the approval of the Privy Council by merging the University of Luton and the Bedford campus of De Montfort University.
The university is sprawled across six campuses; there are 4 campuses in Bedfordshire, in Luton and Bedford, 2 campuses in Buckinghamshire, in Aylesbury (for the students of Midwifery and Nursing) and in Milton Keynes (for business studies, telecommunications and electronic engineering). The university had entered the Research Assessment Exercise in 2008 and had achieved a GPA of 2.087 with 34.7 percent internationally.

Our Luton campus is located right in the heart of the town centre boasting our brand-new STEM Building, seven-storey Library and Postgraduate & CPD Centre, as well as an array of fantastic modern facilities to support each of the courses on offer. These include the Media Arts Centre hosting our broadcast television and digital radio studios, extensive STEM Laboratories & Workshops, a Moot Court, Business Pods, Healthcare Simulation Suites and our Campus Gym. For our Art & Design students we have the Alexon Building - a former fashion house based in the centre of Lutons Cultural Quarter, which contains studio space spanning across three floors with each course having their own designated areas including the fashion and photography studios. At the heart of our Luton campus is the Campus Centre where alongside a large lecture theatre and study rooms you can find our Careers Centre, Student Information Desk and other Student Support Services.
