Students will show an advanced level of technical skill as either a composer or a conductor, in those degree emphases, with abilities to lead an ensemble as a conductor or to coach an ensemble as the composer of its literature. Students will demonstrate the ability to hear, analyze, read, and/or write music at an advanced level. Students will demonstrate and relate an advanced knowledge of music literature, both for their individual specialties, and for the whole of music history. Students will acquire and use advanced knowledge of research, scholarly reading comprehension, and writing techniques. Students will acquire and synthesize knowledge of the theoretical, historical, pedagogical, and psychological foundations of music teaching and learning both in research and in the classroom.Intake Months
