About the courseStudents of pharmaceutical and biomedical chemistry concentrate on developing specific chemistry and experimental skills, valued by the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. This includes developing a transferable skill set, including team working, problem solving, computer literacy and presentation skills. There is a strong focus on the study of what happens at the molecular scale – the physical and chemical properties of molecules, their structure, and how they can be made and put to good use andunderstanding disease at the molecular level. Pharmaceutical and biomedical chemistry is used in the advancement of medical technologies - the discovery, development and manufacture of new medicinal compounds while working at the forefront of medical research in the design and synthesis, and the understanding of the mode of action of new drugs for human health.
