About the courseOur distinctive Film Studies (Joint Honours) degree at DMU offers you the chance to go beyond the viewing experience to explore film as an art form, as a social institution, and as a business. Our Film Studies Joint Honours course links the criticism and history of film to the core concerns of a range of other subjects. If you are fascinated by film, but want to combine your passion with another area of study, the Joint Honours route is the perfect choice. Subjects include Creative Writing, English, Journalism, or Media and Communication. Each of these options functions as a carefully designed programme of study, which allows you to focus on the films you love, while also developing knowledge and skills in an area of your choice. The degree offers coaching and guidance for achieving industry placements, and students from DMU have gone on to take up internships with BBC Films, Warp Films and others. The degree can be taken in sandwich mode – if you find a suitable placement, you can work in the business for a year, receive credit, and return to complete your studies.
